Projects / Harrods Toy Kingdom

In 2012, Harrods, the world’s most famous department store, invited The Kitchen to pitch for the creation of illustrative ceiling graphics for their new toy department – Toy Kingdom. We won the pitch and our designs can now be seen by anyone of the 15 million visitors passing through Harrods’ doors each year.

The underlying concept for the Toy Kingdom is one of a fairytale, and our task was to create visual solutions for the Enchanted Forest and Wonderland areas, based on geometrical shapes. The ceilings can often be forgotten places within interiors, but in this case it was important to apply illustrations in order for the whole space to work as one and create a world that also lives above the viewer, continuing the storytelling. The geometrical shapes theme is further enhanced by floor projections throughout the department.
